City Covering Manure Smell in Lexington Neighborhood
A contractor working for the government has been spreading a manure mix at the site where three homes were demolished earlier this year.
Residents say the smell was so bad they haven’t been unable to go outside or even open windows.
The mixture was spread in an effort to grow grass and prevent runoff on the flood-prone lots.
After multiple complaints, the city has begun spreading lime and clay over the site to cover the smell.
Residents say it’s gotten better, but can still smell the odor, which some say is reminiscent of a pig farm.
The city dumped that mixture on a similar site a block over on Crimson King Court earlier this year. Residents along that subdivision say the smell lasted for more than a week.
