Cincinnati airport no longer has highest fares in nation

HEBRON, Ky. (AP) — New data from the U.S. Department of Transportation shows that the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport no longer has the highest fares in the nation.

The Kentucky Enquirer (http://cin.ci/1P3uzLR) cited the new data in reporting that the airport in Hebron, Kentucky, dropped to No. 3 in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The newspaper reports the change comes with the growth of discount airlines at the airport, including Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines. The airport still has rates higher than the national average.

According to the data, an airport in Madison, Wisconsin, had the nation’s highest fares in the fourth quarter while an airport in Sanford, Florida, had the lowest average ticket price.
