Church provides services for homeless
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Every Sunday, Church Under the Bridge welcomes those less fortunate to an afternoon where they can get what they need to stay safe and also enjoy good company.
The church has a service, provides dinner, and offers clothing for guests to take with them.
The service is volunteer run and relies on donations from the community.
Nancye Logan and Davana Brown started coming to church 3 years ago while they were living in their car.
They would come to Church Under the Bridge for the fellowship, but they also needed the meal and clothes.
“Under the Bridge just made it more positive for us to get up on our feet,” said Davana Brown.
When it gets cold, a volunteer says that it’s difficult to keep up with the need.
The church always accepts donations but they need coats and socks the most right now.
“We’re all brothers and sisters. I always think of it this way, if that were my brother or sister out there, would I be able to just drive by and I can’t do it,” said Brad Johnson, Volunteer.
