Church Overflows For Funeral Of Campbellsville Fire Captain

An Adair County church overflowed Wednesday as funeral services were held for a Campbellsville Firefighter.

Captain Tony Grider died Saturday after spending about a month at a Louisville hospital.

Grider was one of four firefighters who were shocked August 21st during an ice bucket challenge at Campbellsville University.

The fire department had been helping the school’s marching band with an ice bucket challenge to raise awareness for ALS.

Investigators said that the fire department’s ladder truck had been too close to a power line.

The other firefighters had since been released from the hospital.

Those who knew him said he was a great friend who loved what he did.

They said Grider was a role model who was always ready and willing to serve.

His funeral at Columbia Christian Church was standing room only.

It was filled with hundreds of loved ones and fire and rescue crews from across the country.

They were there to honor fallen hero, Tony Grider.
