Children Shop With A Cop In Lexington
Lexington Police officers volunteered their time Saturday morning to shop with kids at the Meijer store on Reynolds Road.
It was their chance to shop with a hero in this even that has been going on at least 20 years.
The event is organized by the Fraternal Order of Police.
Schools and police officers nominate children who get gift cards to buy presents for themselves or family members.
"This gives us an opportunity to reach out to the young folks in the community and to show them that we as the police are people too. We as police are here to help them and support them," said Jeremiah Davis, Lexington Police.
