Child dies from the flu in Kentucky

KENTUCKY (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) —  Governor Andy Beshear announcing via social media outlet X, that Kentucky has seen its first death of a child,  to the flu this season.

According to the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the child was not vaccinated for the flu.
There’s no word on where or when the child died.
While it’s first pediatric death from the flu in the commonwealth, it marks the second child that’s died from a respiratory illness this season.
The department says flu vaccination is down around the state, with 17% of Kentucky children receiving a flu shot this season.
Meantime,  just 2% have received an updated COVID-19 vaccine.
