Chemical crew detects GB agent vapor at BG Army Depot

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A chemical crew detected a vapor emission in a storage igloo with nerve agent-filled munitions at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond Tuesday, according to the depot.

As a precaution, a powered filter was connected to the igloo to ensure the vapor didn’t enter the outside atmosphere, according to the depot.

Officials say there was never any threat to anyone in Madison or surrounding counties.

Several hundred tons of aging chemical weapons are stored at the depot.
