Charges expected in “Raisin” animal cruelty case

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control is calling on the public to speak up after turning over evidence in a case involving a dog named Raisin, whose story has drawn widespread attention.

While the alleged abuse occurred outside Fayette County, LFACC says it worked with the Clark County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, which has agreed to file charges under Kentucky’s animal cruelty law.

Officials say Raisin’s case is a reminder of the importance of reporting suspected neglect or abuse before it’s too late. This year alone, LFACC has charged more than 85 individuals in animal cruelty investigations.

Anyone who suspects animal abuse or neglect is urged to contact local authorities. In Fayette County, reports can be made by calling 859-255-9033.
