Changes Coming To Lexington’s Youth Football & Cheerleading Programs
The announcement came Tuesday during a news conference.
According to the city, children must now be between the ages of seven and twelve by August 1st.
The cutoff date used to be August 31st.
Also, the city said children can now be a little bigger to play.
Depending on the age, kids can now be between five and twenty pounds heavier.
The city said that the change would allow for weight gain during the season.
There was also a change in the registration deadline.
It was extended to August 22nd.
The city’s football program provides helmets, shoulder pads and pants/knee pads at a cost of $55 per child.
And organizers said that a 50% scholarship was available to those who qualified.
