Chandler and Barr Debate; Discuss Campaign Ads
For months Rep. Ben Chandler and his opponent Andy Barr have gone back and forth in political ads attacking each other, in what some say is one of the most mean-spirited races in Kentucky history.
On Monday the two were in the same room, at the KET studio in Lexington for their only debate.
For most of the debate, both sides acted civil towards each other, however there were points in the hour where the advertisements was brought up, an ‘verbal punches’ were thrown.
Many voters say they’re tired of all the ‘mud-slinging’ and say it’s taking away from the issues important to this election.
In 2010 both candidates ran for the same seat. Rep. Chandler won by a little more than 600 votes of the more than 240-thousand cast.
Independent political experts are predicting a similar race this year.
