Center provides free lockers for homeless people

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A ‘New Life Day Center‘ wants to help those without a home keep track of their belongings.

The center is doing it by offering homeless people a locker.

The center has 115 lockers available for homeless people and they can keep the lockers for as long as they need.

The executive director says he got the lockers in 2011 from a YMCA.

The lockers are free and are almost always full.

Right now, there’s about a two week wait with a list of about 30 people on it.

Rodney Lee has been using a locker for year and he says it’s been very helpful.

“It keeps me from always having to pack my stuff around, and leave it somewhere, and worry about someone taking it,” said Rodney Lee.

There is no time limit on how long someone can keep their locker, but if a person doesn’t come back in 30 days they’ll lose it.
