Celebrating cultural differences at Divercity Festival

LEXIONGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWSNOW) — From 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., people gathered together in Downtown Lexington at the Courthouse Plaza for the Divercity Festival.

This was the 5th annual Divercity Festival. People from all different cultures and all different backgrounds gather to share their music, food, history and more. The first festival was in 2019 and has been growing ever since.

Vice President of the Divercity Festival Planning committee Brett Bibb says this is a chance for people to experience each other’s cultures.

“We wanted an event that would bring the communities that are already represented in central Kentucky together to celebrate one another,” Bibb said. “The event is actually based on three pillars which is to educate, embrace and celebrate our differences.”

There were 70 vendors and over 40 cultural performances that attendees could enjoy.
