Cats fans still mourning after loss to Florida
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Some fans are still in shock but it’s not discouraging them from wearing their blue and repping their cats around Lexington. We saw a lot of different emotions from people ranging from happy to sad. One fan says he’s never seen a game like it. But he, along with some other fans agree they thought the last kick was good until they saw the score board.
“The whole game I kind of thought we had it in the bag until the end.”
“We were confident going into it but in the end we came up short, it was just chaos.”
“The people sitting behind us jumped up and were getting ready to run onto the field and then they found out the kick was just a couple yards short.”
“Well we thought the field goal went in, we were looking at it as it came towards the field goal I just sat down and put my hands over my face.”
“I knew it, I didn’t even watch the field goal, I left, I didn’t finish it.”
“It’s sad, it’s like a ghost town today, you can hear my voice, barely, I lost it, it was a bad day.”
The loss didn’t keep Cats fans from going out and celebrating. As you can see in this video some got a little too rowdy as emotions ran high. According to Lexington Police, security was ramped up downtown in preparation for a big win.
Fans might be mourning now, but some are already gearing up for the next game.
“They will bounce back probably by Friday afternoon, because we should have a victory Saturday for sure.”
“We’ll be over it by next Saturday, next game day everybody will be happy, ready to go again.”
“I mean either way whoever you are we are coming for ya!”
The Cats play Eastern Michigan Saturday September 30th.
