“A Cathedral Christmas” – Lexington Philharmonic
Lexington Philharmonic director and conductor Scott Terrell along with special guest artist, baritone Jarett Ott, come by the studio to talk to Katie Solove about their upcoming performance of “A Cathedral Christmas!”
The Cathedral of Christ the King will resound with the joyful sounds of chamber choirs and soloists, as the orchestra is joined by emerging artists to perform works by John Rutter, Gerald Finzi, Vaughan Williams, and Bach. The Lexington Chamber Chorale and the chamber choir ECCO will also lend their talents to the musical extravaganza.
This year’s Cathedral program illustrates the expanse of Christmas music inspired by poignant liturgical texts, and all created for grand liturgical spaces. For attendees, the repertoire is wide-ranging in sonic splendor: thrilling brass fanfares of John Rutter’s GLORIA, lush string writing in Vaughan William’s Fantasia on Greensleeves, and the magnificence of vocal and instrumental works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
“A Cathedral Christmas” will be held on December 10, 2016 at 8:00pm at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
