Cashier arrested after reportedly taking over $10K from business

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Laurel County Sheriff says an East Bernstadt woman is behind bars following an investigation into a theft at a local business.

Sheriff John Root says 22-year-old Whitney Nicole Johnson tried hiding from detectives at a home off Chapel Road Wednesday morning, before being arrested at about 11:30 a.m.

According to investigators, Johnson stole over $10,000 dollars from a business in northern Laurel County while working there as a cashier.

The was charged with theft and taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
