Carter County delays start of school
CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Carter County Schools announced on Facebook the start of school would be delayed until August 16th. It says this decision comes upon recommendation from the Clark County Health Department after an increase of COVID cases among school-aged kids.
During Governor Andy Beshear’s briefing on Monday, Carter County Schools said despite pushing back the start of school, masks will still not be required.
“No extracurricular activities (games & practices) are permitted through August 16,” says Carter County Schools. “Information will be re-evaluated at the end of next week.”
As of August 1st, Carter County Health Department reported 16 new COVID cases bringing the county’s total up to 2,567. Only one of the reported cases was in a fully vaccinated person.
