Carson campaigns in Kentucky before caucus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky’s Republican Presidential Caucus is fast approaching and some of the candidates are making stops in the state.
Ben Carson was in Lexington Monday morning for a town hall meeting, seemingly undeterred by his low poll numbers.
The retired neurosurgeon spoke to about 1,000 people at the HIT Center on Ruccio Way.
He believes people need to take care of each other, instead of relying on the government for support. He says the country is in trouble and hopes people will wake up before it is too late.
Carson wants America to get back to its “can-do” attitude but believes the biggest problems facing Kentucky are financial.
“Obviously that’s the case with everybody these days and the interesting thing is to turn it around, I don’t think it’s going to be difficult at all,” said Carson. “It’s a matter of creating a situation that encourages entrepreneurial risk and taking capital investment.”
Marco Rubio is scheduled to be in Lexington on Friday, Donald Trump in Louisville on Tuesday.
