Caregiver plead guilty to sexual abuse, 4 others charged
Damon J Heath of Frankfort entered the guilty plea for five counts of third-degree sodomy on June 9, and four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree. Officials say both are considered Class-D felonies. Heath is scheduled to be sentenced on July 24, at 2:00 p.m. in Franklin Circuit Court.
Heath admitted to investigators that he engaged in sexual conduct with two victims on several occasions, in various locations within Franklin County. He said these acts had been spread throughout April 2013 and January 2015.
Heath worked with Community Choices Unlimited, which officials say manages a group of facilities in the Frankfort area used to care for intellectually disabled adults.
Attorney General Conway’s Medical Fraud and Abuse Control Unit investigated this case, saying they found four other employees of Community Choices Unlimited now also being charged with felony wanton neglect and misdemeanor failure to report abuse.
Louis Dewayne Milligan, Randy Ricardo Driver, Tammy D. Humphrey, and Toshia J. Redding are scheduled to be arraigned in Franklin Circuit Court on June 19, at 9 a.m.
“I believe strongly that every patient in a nursing home, Medicaid facility, or personal care home deserves to be treated with dignity and respect and should be free from patient abuse, neglect or exploitation,” Attorney General Conway said. “Instances of abuse will be investigated, and when appropriate, prosecuted.”
