Car rolls off US 25

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A car crashed and rolled off US 25 early Tuesday morning, says Sheriff John Root.

Jonathan Paul Helton of Barbourville was driving a Pontiac Grand Am  when it allegedly crossed the center line and moved into oncoming traffic. The car, Root says, left the road and went airborne after striking a culvert.

Authorities said the car rolled once before coming to a rest off the road, and the driver had to be pulled from the severely damaged car. Police say Helton had fallen asleep prior to the crash.

He was wearing a seatbelt, officials say, and Helton transported to a nearby hospital for injuries.
