Car Chase Ends In Arrest In Lexington

A domestic violence call led to a police chase that ended near downtown Lexington Saturday morning.

Officers said a man assaulted his girlfriend and when she and her son tried to get away, he took control of the car and drove off with both still inside.

Officers reported the girlfriend was able to secretly message her brother that she was being held against her will and her location. When an officer tried to pull the car over near Georgetown and Roosevelt, the boyfriend fled. Officers said he then got out of the car on Pemberton and led them on a foot chase that ended on Chestnut.

Marko Marcell Givens is charged with burglary, unlawful imprisonment, violation of a Kentucky Domestic Violence Order, criminal mischief, assault, fleeing and evading both in a vehicle and on foot.

He also had several unrelated warrants according to police who say additional charges may be added.
