Cal’s Positives From Auburn Win
One of the bright spots in the 75-53 win over the Tigers, the improved play of freshman forward Alex Poythress, who finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds and a steal…not to mention hitting 6 of 8 free throws…but that doesn’t mean he’s reached his full potential.
At least not yet. Cal’s said it before and reminded Solid Blue fans and the media that getting Alex to play better each game is the goal and reaching his full potential a season-long process.
Another big step in the right direction for the Cats this season, the continued success Kyle Wiltjer has been exhibiting on the floor, not just shooting either.
For the second straight game, Wiltjer had 17 points. Against Auburn, the sophomore forward added in 5 assists and 4 boards…hitting 3 of his 6 three-point attempts…which has Coach Cal thinking his elder statesman can be the leader the Cats need.
