Cadiz man shot and killed by police officer

CADIZ, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man was shot and killed by an officer with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office at a home early Wednesday afternoon, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say when the officer, whose name wasn’t released, answered a call at a home on Forest Circle near Cadiz around 12:45 p.m., “an altercation ensued” between the officer and 44-year old Bennie “Shawn” Biby, of Cadiz.

KSP says that’s when the officer shot and killed Biby, who was pronounced dead at Trigg County Hospital.

An autopsy is scheduled Thursday at the Western Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Madisonville, according to State Police.

The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is investigating the officer-involved shooting.  The specialized unit investigates all officer-involved shootings in Kentucky.
