RE: Commercial Fire (Eagle Outfitters)
On June 10th at 9:37pm, Mount Vernon Fire Department was dispatched to an active
commercial fire alarm at Eagle Outfitters on Jerri Lane in Mount Vernon. Mount
Vernon Fire and Police Department units responded. An MVPD unit arrived on scene
first and confirmed an active fire at this location. Mount Vernon Fire personnel arrived
on scene at 9:43pm to find heavy smoke inside the store with smoke venting from a
garage door at the rear of the building. Fire crews made entry at that time and
located a small fire in the garage area of the structure. The fire was extinguished
within 5 mins of arriving on scene.
Once extinguished, it was determined that the fire had been contained to the room
and area of origin with the structure receiving minor fire damage in this room only.
The store and remainder of the building received moderate smoke damage. Fire crews
remained on scene for an extended period of time in order to clear all smoke from the
building before releasing the scene to the owners.
From the time of initial alarm to the time of complete extinguishment was less than 12
minutes with the fire officially being deemed extinguished by incident command at
9:57pm, 20 minutes after the initial report was received.
With the information obtained from alarm monitoring data, surveillance cameras
inside the building, and the obvious evidence at hand, any investigation into this fire is
closed with no suspicious factors found.
Assisting at the scene were Brodhead Fire Department (automatic aid), Mount Vernon
Police Department, Rockcastle Sheriff’s Office, and Rockcastle EMS.
Respectfully,
Chief Adam Bales
Mount Vernon Fire Department
