Burn ban issued for Breathitt County due to fire danger

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Breathitt County residents are being asked to put outdoor burning on hold after the county judge executive issued a burn ban.

According to a Facebook post from the county, Judge Executive Jeff Noble signed an executive order Monday banning all outdoor burning in Breathitt County until the order is lifted.

The order cites current weather conditions and an increased risk of forest fires as the reason for the ban.

The burn ban does not apply to outdoor campfires or cooking fires. However, officials are asking that those fires be kept at a manageable size and fully extinguished when finished.

County officials say the burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.
