Burglary stops delivery of free meals to sick people in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A non-profit organization in Lexington that prepares and deliveries hot meals to sick people in Lexington is temporarily out of business following a weekend burglary, according to the organization.

Officials with ‘Moveable Feast’ say someone broke-in Sunday night and stole, among other things, copper piping, which left the facility without water.  Without water the organization couldn’t prepare meals for HIV/AIDS and Hospice patients in the city.

“We bring meals to so many sick and vulnerable people in our community who count on us and our volunteers to provide sustenance and nourishment,” said Terry Mullins, executive director. “It’s sad to see such an important and valuable service be interrupted due to this senseless, criminal act.”

‘Moveable Feast’ hopes to resume its regular service by Wednesday, Oct. 18.
