Burger King testing AI chatbot “Patty” in 500 restaurants

(ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Burger King says it is piloting an AI chatbot named “Patty” in 500 restaurants nationwide.

The company says Patty is connected to employee headsets and is designed to help reinforce hospitality and customer service standards.

Burger King officials say the tool is not meant to surveil employees or enforce a strict script. Instead, they say it provides managers with feedback on hospitality norms and overall service performance.

In addition to monitoring customer interactions, Patty can also assist with managing orders and tracking restocking needs inside the restaurant.

The company says it hopes to expand the AI system nationwide by the end of the year.
