State of Emergency declared in Lincoln County due to flooding

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Heavy rain and flooding prompted Lincoln County to declare a state of emergency on Tuesday.

The heavy rainfall began Monday and is expected to continue through Tuesday night.

Heavy flood damage is being reported in Hustonville and Stanford.

The Hustonville Fire Department says there have been six water rescues and multiple evacuations in the area.

According to the National Weather Service, flooding has damaged buildings, washed out some roadways and flooded at least one trailer park.

Lincoln County Fire Station 3 is also reporting it was flooded.

Emergency officials are encouraging people to keep receipts and document all flood damage saying, should the county receive federal funding due to the declaration, some costs may be refunded.
