BREAKING: Man indicted in murder of Pikeville police officer
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A grand jury in Pike County has indicted a man on a capital murder charge in the shooting death of an officer.
John Russell Hall is accused of killing Pikeville police officer Scotty Hamilton last week in the Hurricane Creek area.
Hamilton was assisting Kentucky State Police with an investigation at the time.
In addition to the capital murder indictment, Hall was also indicted on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property and being a persistent felony offender.
The grand jury also issued indictments against four people accused of helping Hall hide from authorities after Hamilton’s murder.
Michael Slone, Gregory Slone, Amanda Dotson and Jeanne Blackburn were arrested two days after Hall’s arrest. All four were indicted for hindering prosecution. Gregory Slone was also charged with promoting contraband and persistent felony offender.
