Suspect dead, deputy taken to UK with non-life threatening injuries
BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a Madison Co. deputy was shot on Wednesday while at a house in Berea.
Troopers say Deputy Kevin Crutcher, a nine year member of the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, attempted to stop a Ford F-150 truck on Arthur Jackson Road around 2 p.m.
Officials say the vehicle pulled into a driveway and the driver 51-year-old Daniel Pigg of Berea, exited the vehicle and started walking toward the front door. Investigators tell us that Pigg ignored verbal commands and began shooting toward the deputy. KSP says Deputy Crutcher was shot and then returned gunfire, fatally striking Daniel Pigg.
Pigg was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputy Crutcher was taken to UK with non-life threatening injuries.
The shooting is still under investigation.
