BREAKING: KY congressmen on train involved in crash in Virginia
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A train carrying Republican lawmakers, including four Kentucky congressmen, to a policy retreat in West Virginia struck a truck Wednesday.
U.S. Representatives Andy Barr, R-Lexington, James Comer, R-Tompkinsville, Hal Rogers, R-Somerset, and Thomas Massie, R-Garrison, were on board the Amtrak train at the time of the crash.
All four tweeted from the accident, saying they were not seriously injured.
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan was also on board.
No injuries were reported on the train.
There was one fatality, according to the Associated Press.
A witness says the train hit what appeared to be a tractor trailer carrying trash.
The train was going from Washington D.C. to White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, to attend a retreat at the Greenbrier Resort.
Law enforcement officials are on the scene.
