UPDATE: Gov.’s office issues response to AG complaint
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A statement from the office of Governor Matt Bevin has been issued, replying to Attorney General Andy Beshear’s announcement that he would be filing a complaint against the Governor over recent alterations to state boards.
In the statement, Governor Bevin says that Beshear’s “frivolous lawsuits” are “purely political in nature,” adding that “this court room circus act is what the people of Kentucky have come to expect from him.”
Governor Bevin continues, commenting that the Attorney General’s father, former Governor Steve Beshear similarly reorganized state government boards “more than 100 times in eight years.”
The statement closes saying that Bevin’s “executive orders stand on solid legal ground,” and that his office will continue “working to fix Kentucky’s economy, protect the pensions of teachers and state workers, and clean up the mess and corruption left behind by the previous administration.”

At a press conference in Frankfort on Wednesday, Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that he will file a complaint with the court system against Governor Matt Bevin following the Governor’s recent comments about dismantling state boards.
The Attorney General says that the comments made by Bevin, claiming that the Governor has “absolute authority” to dismantle state board are “dangerous,” and says that the changes to the boards are not about efficiency, but about control.
Beshear’s lawsuit will join the KRS Board of Trustees lawsuit and will also add Governor Bevin’s dismantling of University of Louisville’s Board of Trustees.
The Attorney General says the complaint will be filed Wednesday.
