‘Brand New Day’ marks return to performances at the Lyric

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Live performances are returning to Lexington’s Lyric Theater with the June 25 performance by the Lexington Singers.

Called ‘A Brand New Day,’ the pops concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go an sale next week.

After a year of virtual rehearsals and performances, the Lexington Singers are ready to fill the air with the live music we’ve been missing. This concert focuses on joy, community and renewal, with celebration songs like “Let the Sunshine In” from “Hair” and “Brand New Day” from “The Wiz” as well as lyrical ballads like the Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun”, and “The Sound of Music” classic “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

Per current CDC guidelines and local policies, masks will not be required for fully vaccinated individuals. Those who are not fully vaccinated must wear their masks at all times while indoors.

Led by artistic director Dr. Jefferson Johnson and assistant director Dr. Johnie Dean, The Lexington Singers currently include five choirs with over 300 voices total.
