Brain health is focus of event in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A free health fair focused on keeping your brain in good shape is set for later this month in Lexington.

The "Mind Matters" health fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT May 18 at the Fayette County Extension Office.

It’s being put on by the University of Kentucky’s Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, a leading research center on age-related diseases.

UK says this year’s event will address proper nutrition for a healthy brain and provide information on how diet can help promote healthy brain aging and prevent age-related brain disease. Free "brain-healthy" food will be available as well as cooking demonstrations.

Also planned are interactive exhibits, health and memory screenings and presentations about healthy brain aging, Alzheimer’s and music therapy.
