Boyle wins state Vocabulary Bowl title, Somerset second
BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Talking about a way with words.
Boyle County has won its second straight state title and ranked 66th nationwide among 43,500 schools across the United States and Canada in the seventh annual Vocabulary Bowl.
Southern Middle School in Somerset finished second in the state.
Students battled it out virtually to see who could master the most words by answering as many questions as possible on Vocabulary.com.
Boyle County mastered 66,618 words to 49,754 for Southern Middle. Twenty-five schools from across the state participated, including schools in Stanford, Wolfe County, Lexington, and Harlan.

Throughout the past seven months, 1.3 million students across North America competed on behalf of their schools to master the most words. Students answered 450 million questions, mastered a collective total of 36.6 million words, and expanded their lexicons in the classroom and at home.
