Bowling Green man charged with murder after crash kills 2-year-old
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Bowling Green man is charged with murder and DUI after a crash over the weekend killed a 2-year-old and injured a 5-year-old.
According to the Bowling Green Police Department, officers responded to a crash on Scottsville Road at Cypress Wood Lane in the city on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Once there, officers saw a vehicle on the road hit from behind and a second vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
The car on the road had three people inside — an adult who was uninjured, a 5-year-old with multiple injuries and a 2-year-old who was unresponsive.
Both children were taken to a hospital in Nashville.
On Monday evening, the 2-year-old child died from injuries from the crash, BGPD said.
The driver of the second vehicle, later identified as Jorge Iturbide, was also injured in the crash and hospitalized locally.
Once released, he’ll be arrested and charged with murder, criminal mischief, wanton endangerment, no operator’s license and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
