Bourbon County man who police say killed his wife dies
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man charged with the murder of his wife has died, more than two weeks after both were found in a Bourbon County home.
The Fayette County Coroner says 50-year-old Michael Kelley was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky Hospital Monday morning.
The coroner lists the cause of death as suicide, saying he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Kelley was brought to the hospital back on February 13 after Kentucky State Police went to a home off Mount Carmel Road in Bourbon County for a welfare check on his wife, 46-year-old Crystal Kelley.
Police discovered Crystal Kelley shot to death and Michael Kelley suffering from a gunshot wound.
