Book with confidential student, parent information goes missing

ANDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Parents are being notified, after a book with confidential information disappeared from an Anderson County school bus last week.

Anderson County School Superintendent Sheila Mitchell tells ABC 36 the binder contains information for the bus driver about the children who ride the bus.

Mitchell says included in that information is private medical information about three children, along with students’ addresses, ages, parental contact information and who to contact if a child’s parent or guardian is not home at the time the student is dropped off.

Mitchell says the school district had yet to notify all of the families of the children but the families whose medical information was listed were notified immediately.

It is unclear how the binder went missing and Mitchell say it stays locked in the bus garage when not in use.

Mitchell says the binder is supposed to stay with the driver when on the bus.

She would not comment on whether disciplinary action will be taken against the bus driver.
