Body of man, who drowned while rescuing children from Cumberland River, has been recovered
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The body of a 37-year-old man has been recovered after he drowned in the Cumberland River while trying to save three children.
According to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, the man went into the river Sunday evening to help the children, who were caught in the current. The children were able to make it out safely, but the man was pulled under by the strong water and did not resurface.
Crews recovered his body Monday. Officials have not yet released the man’s identity.
