Body found on Scott Co. baseball field across from cemetery

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Scott County Coroner says a woman was found dead Friday afternoon inside the dugout of a baseball field at Suffoletta Park in Georgetown.

Coroner John Goble says someone visiting the cemetery bordering the park noticed the woman in the fetal position on a bench in the dugout and called for help.

The coroner says the woman was identified as 27-year-old Brittany Powell, of Georgetown. He says he pronounced Powell dead at 1:45 p.m., but suspects she died about a day and a half earlier.

Powell says he’s waiting for a toxicology report to learn more about how she died.
