UPDATE: Body found overnight in car at intersection; Lexington Police now investigating as homicide

UPDATE: The Fayette County Coroner identified the victim as 37-year-old Devin Chenault. The coroner’s office says he died of a gunshot wound at approximately 1:18 a.m. Tuesday (4/30).

Lexington, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Police Department is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours of April 30, 2024.

Around 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday, an officer patrolling the area of Shropshire Avenue and East Third Street discovered a vehicle obstructing the intersection. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer made a grim discovery—a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased individual will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives from the Personal Crimes Section are actively pursuing leads and gathering information related to the case.
