Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program Changes Its Name
The announcement was made at the shelter the agency operates on a 40-acre farm in the Bluegrass.
Organizers said the new name was a truer representation of the principles that guide the group and its passionate commitment to its mission.
Just as the protection of a greenhouse nurtures plants so they grow healthy and strong, Greenhouse 17 nurtures human beings, helping them grow, flourish and leave the trauma of abuse behind them, according to program officials.
The announcement was deliberately times to benefit from heightened awareness of the problem of intimate partner violence during the month of October, which is designated National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Greenhouse 17 advocates, counselors and staff provide comprehensive client support services as well as community education in 17 Kentucky counties.
