Bluegrass Community and Technical College receives $30K award for direct support professional training program
LEXINGTON, KY (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Bluegrass Community and Technical College has received a $30,000 award from United Way of the Bluegrass to support its Direct Support Professionals training program.
The funding will help BCTC students prepare for careers as DSPs, who provide critical care and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Those services include personal care, medical monitoring, work-based learning oversight, and health care-related tasks.
BCTC is also partnering with UWBG’s WayPoint Centers to offer onsite training for anyone seeking to transition into the human services field through DSP work.
