Blue Grass Airport sets new passenger record in 2015

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — According to Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport, a record number of passengers traveled through there in 2015.

The second year in a row the airport has seen record numbers, reports show over 1.2 million passengers.

“We are pleased that Blue Grass Airport continues to serve as an economic catalyst for our region,” said Eric Frankl, executive director of Blue Grass Airport. “We are fortunate for the strong relationships we have with our airline partners, who serve our region well.”

Authorities say the 3% growth in 2015 is from several factors, including visitors from around the world for the Breeder’s Cup at Keeneland, and an upgrade of the size of several of its airplanes.
