Blown tire brings tigers to Frankfort

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Frankfort police deal with traffic incidents everyday, but usually nothing quite this exotic.

A truck carrying tigers blew a tire in Kentucky, necessitating an impromptu stop at the Century Plaza off of 127 S in Frankfort on Tuesday.

Police say the truck, which was driving from South Carolina to Chicago, is currently waiting for a mechanic to come and fix the tire.

Meanwhile, officers brought water hoses to the truck to keep the animals hydrated while waiting on repairs.

Police say, though business hauling the tigers does have a permit for the animals, they have still been cited by the Department of Fish and Wildlife for not having the correct state transport permits for Kentucky.

Neither the truck driver not the animals were hurt in the incident.
