Blasting operations next week on U.S. 421 in Harlan County

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists that blasting operations start Monday, October 5 on at mile point 19.35 on U.S. 421 in Harlan County.

Work schedule is listed below:

• The blasting operations are expected to occur Monday, October 5, Wednesday, October 7, and Friday, October 9 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

While every precaution is made,, blasts have potential to block the roadway for extended periods of time, which may lead to additional delays, the state advised.

KYTC asks motorists to avoid the area during the designated hours, and to seek alternate routes. Also be aware of the work zone, expect delays, and to utilize safe driving habits when traveling through the area.

The date, time, and duration of work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.
