Black Friday shopping safety

Fayette Mall expects 150,000 people to shop Thanksgiving into Black Friday, double the amount the mall normally sees on a Saturday.

The mall is bringing in extra police officers to make sure everyone is safe.

Lexington Police say there is usually an increase in car break-ins during the busy holiday shopping season.

Safety tips from LPD:
1. Lock all car doors
2. Keep purses, bags, purchases in the trunk of a car
3. Stay alert and be aware of surroundings
4. Use common sense
5. Don’t post on social media about going shopping

Fayette Mall is opening at six Thanksgiving night. About 70 stores will stay open all night and all day. The mall will close at ten Friday night.
