Billboards in Nicholasville honor fallen officer

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- There is a touching gesture from a mysterious source in Jessamine County. Billboards along Nicholasville Road honor fallen Nicholasville Police Officer Burke Rhoads.

Investigators say Rhoads was on his way to police training in Richmond Wednesday when he was killed in a car crash.

The billboards are flashing the words "In Remembrance of Officer Burke Rhoads." But the source of the messages is a mystery, even to the police department.

Sergeant Scott Harvey says he was as surprised as anyone when he first saw the message. Harvey says he’s grateful for the signs. He says the gesture represents a very caring community that is standing behind Officer Rhoads and his family.
