‘Big Brown Truck Pull’ pulls in big money for Special Olympics Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The annual ‘Big Brown Truck Pull’ set a record fundraising mark for Special Olympics Kentucky in Lexington on Saturday night.
The event raised an estimated $61,000, according to organizers. The money is used to provide sports and health programs for an estimated 12,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across the state.
There were 20 teams competing in three divisions: Men’s Division, Women’s Division and Co-ed Division. Teams had to have 15 or fewer pullers. Co-ed teams had to have at least six women on the squad. A co-ed team with fewer than six women were not eligible to win the division and would be considered a men’s team entry.
Each team had at least two chances to pull a 47,180 pound UPS 18-wheeler for 12-feet. Teams that raised more than $1,500 were awarded a third pull. The team with the fastest pull time won its respective division.
The UPS Women won the women’s division with a time of 5.37 seconds.
Landon’s Toyota Crew won the co-ed competition with a time of 4.59 seconds.
Toyota Crew 2 won the men’s division title with a winning time of 4.15 seconds.
The event was held in front of Texas Roadhouse in the Beaumont Centre. Sponsors had tents set up throughout the parking lot. There were also Chevrolet Corvette’s on display, vendor booths and a family fun zone.
Once again, ABC 36 was proud to be a sponsor of the fundraising event.
