Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass aims to raise $50,000 for children in central Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – This weekend, Red Mile Racetrack hosted the “Scavenger Hunt for Kids Sake”.
So far $35,000 dollars in donations has been raised, however the non-profit says it’s hoping to raises $50,000 by Tuesday.
This money will help pair children from the ages of 6-13 with an adult mentor in the community.
The Community Engagement Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass says she once was a big sister herself.
She believes this program can change the life of a child.
“It’s all about relationships and I think we’ve seen over the past year how important relationships truly are and I think having somebody there who’s consistent in your life who’s there to support you and be your champion I think this means a lot to these kids in our program,” says Afton Fairchild, with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass.
