Bevin makes appointments to Fayette Co. Fiscal Court

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Governor Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to the Fayette County Fiscal Court, according to the governor’s office:

  • Jon Larson appointed as County Judge-Executive

Larson, of Lexington, is an attorney who has practiced criminal law for more than 40 years. He previously served as Fayette County Judge-Executive (2011-2014) and Fayette County Public Defender (1975-1984).

“I’m honored to receive this appointment from Gov. Bevin,” said Larson. “I’m humbled to be able to return to public service to continue the work that we started in my previous tenure and that was continued by John Roberts and Tom Dupree on behalf of the taxpayers of Fayette County.”

  • Kevin Akers appointed as County Commissioner for the 3rd District

Akers, of Lexington, has served as operations manager for Community Trust Bank since 2002. His community involvement includes volunteer service with Habitat for Humanity and Boy Scouts of America.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I appreciate the Governor’s confidence in me,” said Akers. “I will do my best to be an effective steward of the public’s trust.”

Governor’s office says both Larson and Akers will serve until their respective positions are filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
